This morning, BRASS, Inc. CEO Tori Henninger and Morgan Bandy of A&M Collective stopped by the studio to share some exciting news — and we couldn't wait to bring it to you here, too.

This October, we're lacing up for a brand-new tradition: the inaugural Steps for Safety 5K & Kids Fun Run, benefiting BRASS, Inc. and the survivors of domestic violence we serve across our ten-county region in South Central Kentucky.

A morning to move, a mission to support

The idea is simple: get out, get moving, and do it for a cause that changes lives.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 10 at Michael O. Buchanon Park. Whether you're chasing a personal best, walking with friends, or bringing the little ones out for the Kids Fun Run, there's a starting line for everyone. And because we know fall schedules can get busy — October 10 falls on the last Saturday of fall break — we're also offering a virtual option so you can take your steps from wherever you are.

There's a special meaning to the timing, too. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which makes this event more than a race. Every registration, every step, and every cheer from the sidelines is a statement that our community stands with survivors.

A partnership that feels like family

This is our second event in partnership with Morgan and the team at A&M Collective, and we're so grateful for it. As Morgan shared this morning, the relationship started with a simple desire to give back close to home.

"When we first started those conversations, we knew we wanted to support others in our community," she said. "Walking into the shelter and seeing the need firsthand — talking with Tori about everything BRASS, Inc. does — we just knew there was no other place for us. It felt like home."

That spirit of partnership is exactly what makes events like this possible, and we're thrilled to be building something lasting together.

Beat the deadline: Early Bird ends July 1

Here's the part you'll want to act on now: Early Bird registration is just $25 — but only through July 1. Sign up before the deadline to lock in your rate and snag a cool event tee.

You can also find the link on the BRASS, Inc. website and across all of our social media channels — and yes, registration stays open after July 1, but the early bird gets the best deal.

Why your steps matter

Every dollar raised through Steps for Safety helps fund safe shelter, crisis support, and advocacy for our neighbors facing domestic violence. When you register, you're not just signing up for a race — you're helping make sure that help is there for someone who needs it.

So bring your family, bring your friends, and let's show our community what it looks like to stand together.

We'll see you at the starting line.
