Steps for Safety 5K Raises More Than $8,300 for Survivors

Updated: 2 days ago
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, our community took steps toward a safer future at BRASS, Inc.’s inaugural Steps for Safety 5K & Kids Fun Run.
Hosted by Galentine’s Gala Co. in support of BRASS, Inc., the event took place at Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, bringing together 96 participants and raising more than $8,300 to support survivors of domestic violence across our ten-county service area.
Held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the event brought runners, families, volunteers, and community partners together for a morning of movement, connection, and community support.
Every Step Makes a Difference
Since 1980, BRASS, Inc. has provided safety and support to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence. Our services include emergency shelter, a 24-hour crisis line, safety planning, legal advocacy, housing assistance, and other essential resources.
Proceeds from Steps for Safety help sustain these services, connecting survivors with the resources they need to pursue safety and build a future free from abuse.
